Archiving of shows can be beneficial, especially for those that aren't always easily available for download. There could be kids shows, nature shows, etc. that you may want to have available for the long term (commercial free of course), without taking up limited space on your DVR.

If we run out of space on the DVR because we are watching too much we deserve that last show to be deleted.

The one reason for me would be to archive shows like Lost but it's actually easier to just download the HR version.

Re: #4 - Because your DVR has limited hard drive space, whereas your other computers don't.
