I remember thinking that was a bad sign when I saw that preview. Both the venom and hobgoblin stories are definitely big enough to be adapted into their own movies without sharing a lot of time.
Like we talked about this morning, I'm hoping the way this goes is as follows:
1. The opening scene is a big, action-packed fight scene - Spidey vs. Sandman. At the end of this sequence, Sandman gets captured and goes to jail, and that's it for him for the rest of the movie. I'd like to see this both because I don't want them trying to crowd in an extra villain throughout the whole movie, and because it would allow for a faster paced, action based opening scene before you get into the actual plot of the movie.
2. The rest of the movie unfolds along the general lines of the Venom story. Of course, they won't be able to tell it the original way it happened (I'll explain why they can't do this, if anyone is interested), but it will be interesting to see what they do instead. Hopefully they at least stick to the basics: Spidey gets a costume with all these strange new abilities, and then gradually learns what it really is, etc. etc. Hopefully this will be the main storyline of the movie.
3. I wouldn't mind seeing the Hobgoblin subplot continue to be just the same as it has been in the first two movies: a slowly progressing subplot that ties the movies together but does not interfere with the main story being presented in each film. Ideally, it would keep that slow, background pace, and only maybe reveal him in costume at the very end of this movie.

After thinking about it again later in the day, I realized one other possibly acceptable role that the Sandman character could play (other than the one I outlined above). When Peter first gets the new costume, he has to wear it for a while before he discovers its true nature, so I guess they could show him kicking Sandman's butt after he gets the new costume, as long as they still keep it to a short action scene, like I described above. While I'd prefer my original idea, I'd be OK with this too, but either way I really want it to be a very short scene so as not to take time away from the main storyline.

it's not the hobgoblin, it's going to be the Green Goblin...Harry never became the Hobgoblin, he just took on the role of Green Goblin....either way I think it would be better if they dropped at least one of them

What will happen is, Spiderman will wear the black suit (symbioite) for a while, while he fights sand man, and he will fight the GREEN goblin (harry) as black spidey but then realize its true nature and get rid of it in the bell tower, which then it will combine with Eddie Brock, he will become venom, and spiderman and harry osbourne (greent goblin) will decided to join forces only to defeat venom, then they will go back to being enemies.

Carnage can't be involved because that particular symbiote is born of the Venom symbiot when Eddie Brock shares a prison cell with Cassidy, but of course that can't happen until Spiderman has at the least whipped Venom once or twice. For the record, it's just "Lizard" not Lizardman. I'm not sure if I really see Shocker showing up anytime soon in the Spiderman series, because as I understand it, he is hired by the Kingpin(Fisk) who acted as the Dare Devil's enemy in the movie. Personally, I abhore Sandman and I'd rather see Aquaman if anyone, but more than those two bums I'd enjoy Mysterio.

I don't know how the Venom storyline unfolded in Marvel's "ultimate" revamp series of comics, but I can pretty much guarantee Venom's story is not going to go the way it did when it was first introduced in Marvel comics way back when, so I wouldn't use their original origins as grounds for disqualifying them from doing things in the current movies.
The reason Carnage won't show up in S3 is much more simple: the movie is already pretty full, and it would be too much of a stretch to throw another villain in there.
Shocker I'd be OK with, since I think it would be great for Spider-Man movies to have some "throw away" villains in them; quick 5 minute fight scenes that up the action level without having to dedicate much story / plot time to them, and they go off to jail, explaining why they aren't in the rest of the movie.
I think this sort of thing is going to be closer to the role Sandman plays in #3, although Sandman is actually a character with a little bit of depth too him, so I wouldn't be too mad if they tried to play him a bit more. It's just that if they've already got Venom and the ongoing Harry plot, there's not a lot of room left in a single movie for a villain that would actually play a part in the plot.
Lastly, Kingpin has a long history with Spider-man as well, so no problems with him or his henchmen showing up at some point in the future. Aquaman may be difficult, since he's a DC character (like Superman and Batman). Mysterio is cool, but difficult to write a good story about, and probably even harder to transition into a live action movie. If the special effects are good enough, I could see it, but I think there are more villains with more popular appeal that will see the big screen sooner.

Whoops I meant Hydroman, Spiderman's enemy guy who used to date MJ or something like that. Even with the way movies have been twisting plots, I'm not sure they'd go so far as to make a symbiote that had been born of another(Venom) in the same movie that Venom debuts in. I wouldn't object to Kingpin or Shocker or even both showing up, but I doubt that they'll just take Kingpin from the Dare Devil story to put him in another hero's movie.

yea the thing about venom, sandman, and hob goblin is good....but i think venom should be the MAIN villian not sandman, he sucks and venom and the hob goblin would be a very hard test for spidey but sandman is not a real villian hes just a guy spidey wants dead cause he killed his uncle....i would like to see venom and hobgoblin and not really sandman....if theres a spidey 4, theyshould definetly put the lizard and shocker in it cause there the hardest as well as venom...

I don't believe that Sandman is the same guy who killed Peter's uncle, because that guy died within the same hour. I also don't believe that the Shocker is that difficult a villain to face. If I remember correctly, he's more a sort of hired assassin type guy..

Sandman could take about any of those folk easily in most cases.. Except for Venom, as it the comics he apparently took a bite out of Sandman that led to a slow and painful death. Spiderman is only able to take Sandman on because he's brilliant in the head, but physically he's hardly any match.

Hello True Believers, I see Spiderman 3 going something like this... Green Goblin (Harry) employs a hired goon (sandman) and set a trap for Spiderman. Green Goblin and Sandman start attacking a space shuttle, Spiderman shows up and they commence turning our Favorite, Friendly Neighborhood Wall Crawler into a smear on the sidewalk. Parker (Spiderman) barely escapes (beaten, bruised, and bloody). Parker then stumbles onto (or rather into) a small puddle of black ooze (use your imagination). Green Goblin barely escapes. If you want to know any more go to the theater.

i think they should have done it this way. Spidey starts out fighting sandman and after that he stumbles upon the symbiote. he brings it to doctor conners to find out about it.the suit then creeps to his room and emerges with parker. He uses the power to defeat green goblin.(harry). spidey sees the suit is killing him so he leaves it at the church. Eddie Brock stumbles upon it and he becomes venom. spider man quickly defeats venom but while eddies in jail he meets cassidy and eddie turns him into carnage. venom asks carnage to team up with him so he could get his revenge on spidey.

Firstly if you read above, spidey and venom team up to beat carnage, so carnage cant be stronger than spiderman and carnage.
and have any of you actually SEEN ANY PHOTOS OF VENOM IN THE MOVIE ? maybe the only two villians are sandman and green goblin, and at the end venom emerges after spidey takes off the suit and perhaps beats sandman and/or harry . and then that is what happens at the end of the movie that venom Emerges. and its what keeps you on the edge of your seat for the next movie to come !

heres what i think will happen, the film will start with spiderman findin out bout his uncles killer, they will square off and spider will realise he cant defeat him, then comes along the green goblin to make things worse. peter will then get the black suit who we all no who tht will end up as, but before that u will see peter/ spiderman squaring up against sandman and green goblin again which is where we will see what the suit is cabable of, peter will nearly kill the green goblin which is when he realise what the suit is doin to him, he will rip the suit off at the church where it ataches its self to eddie brock givin us venom which who i think is the main villain of the film cause y else whould they be keepin a tight lid on it, cause he is a fan favourite. just for the records, i dont thin k carnage will ever be in a spiderman film as he is one of the more violent movies and they could risk the age rating goin up if there goin to do it right, which means they will lose at least half the fans for it.

All I know is that they messed up the whole concept of the Symbiot (spelling) Suit ... shouldn't it actually be ON Peter Parker and NOT on his suit? Also it should have a big ass White Spider symbol on the suit ... but besides all that I belive that the time table that they will have in the movie will not be enough time to have 3 villains in it (Unless it lasts at least 3 hours lol or it ends with Eddie Brock turning into the Venom to make a Spiderman 4 ... also Harry Osborn does become the Hobgoblin but they messed up on the mask lol. I agree with Chris an T-Rex. This film will focus on the on the symbiote suit story line and the duality of Peter Parker and the choices he's had/has to make. They will develop the continuing relationship between Harry and Peter - now as Spidey and Goblin - and they will throw in the Sandman for some good old fashioned ass-kickin' fun! The climax will be Peter defeating his own internal demons and shedding the symbiote in the bell tower. The movie will wrap with perhaps the biggest teaser in movie history – the symbiot joining with Brock giving viewers only a quick glimpse of Venom!
I figure this - 1.) Spidey was signed as a 3 picture deal. What better way to get the studio to sign up for more flicks than to ensure the fans leave the last one wanting more. 2.) Venom is the definitive Spidey villan. No way they cram him into a story line packed with other enemies and so many other things going on – Marvel wouldn’t let them. And 3.) if you notice, all of the Venom chatter has come from the fan community. He’s not in any of the teasers or promos for the movie. From a marketing point of view, it wouldn’t make any sense to exclude Venom from the advertising if he had any real part in the movie. He’s too big a draw.
So, everyone looking for the theatrical throw-down between Spidey and Venom, (including me!) - looks like well have to wait another two years for S4!

Ok all. I just finishe reading the book for Spiderman 3 this morning, and I have to say I was SO excited about this movie BEFORE I read it, and I'm even more excited now. Venom IS in the movie people! And there IS a huge throwdown between him and Spidey. I don't wanna say too much here, cause I don't want to give the story away, but the whole thing is great. And Harry is not the Hobgoblin, he's the New Goblin in this movie. I didn't know why they didn't make him the second Green Goblin like the comics, but afetr I read the book, I realized why in a way. Alot happens with Harry in this movie too. The whole thing is just amazing. I think it's easily going to be the best film out of the trilogy.

Norman Osborn 2. Harry Osborn 3. Barton Hamilton (Harry's psychiatrist) 4. Ben Urich (somebody who stumbled upon Harry's hideout). And if Harry really goes by the name of the Hobgoblin in the movie, obviously the writer and director never read the comics up to that point.

Venom was the only choice for a great villian for the 3rd movie. I grew up watching the 90's series and a lot of people who have only just gotten into the whole spidy thing because of the motion picture, don't know Venoms hold over spidy. Not only is he tough as hell with all of spidies abilites, but because spidy wore the symbiote as a suit for a while, Venom doesn't set off Spidies spider sense so he could sneak up on spidy and gain the upper hand... or leg... which ever part he wants to rip off:P. Originally in the comic venom first showed up as an arm trying to grab spidy. The original plot was to have a female version of spidy the was out to "date" him, but they ditched that and made up the awsome villain we all know and love today. VENOM! N.B. ( I just went to find the article that backed up what I just said but it's been a while, so it may take a while... to find... the article)

I agree with the ppl who say they need to read the comics because first of all there were four green goblins all together, but to get 3 and 4 you would have to link spider man and dare devil so they probably won't do that. But Harry should be GREEN GOBLIN not hobgoblin. Second when the symbiote gets to spiderman he looks completely different he doesnt have all his webs still. He is completely black but he still has the spiders on the front and back. So yea they should of done it right, but the movie is still gonna be awesome

I think the movie is going to be great, but really people, read the comments or dont try and pretend to know things cause you just end up looking foolish. Sandman in the comics is usually a side villain for spidey, similar to Rhino and stuff although he is powerful spidey usually dispatches him easily although it looks like from the previews that he is going to be much more of a larger side to the story and much stronger.
Harry is the green goblin not hob goblin from the comics plus in the previews he is green/purple not orange/red/brown and he seems like he is just a thorn in spidey's side not a big problem cause peter seems to just beat on him (even though Hob goblin was one of spidey's worst foes... well the hob goblin's were)
And as for venom, it looks like the battle is going to be against harry and sandman with the suit but battling his anger problems he gets from the suit and the end is going to be more about Venom and Brock.
They could maybe add some side villains for show time and more fighting but nobody really else could fit well with this group. Except Carnage but two symb.'s would be a bit much, plus they would have to go into detail on the secret wars and about carnage and Kasady and plus it takes more than spidey to take down Carnage, it takes him, venom, and several other super heroes to do the trick, plus the mass slaughter Carnage creates would be a tad high for a PG-13 movie.

harry will come after parker, parker will find out about uncle bens real killer and all that after he gets his ass stomped in, but then parker will get the black suit, and the symbiote will turn him into an asshole. he'll beat harry's ass, treat MJ like shit and piss off everyone he knows, including eric foreman, haha. he then finds that the suit makes sandman easier to deal with, too. then he'll realize the suit is BS, its fuckin up his romantic life, its making him something he didnt ever wanna be, so he'll tear it off and it will stick to brock. then sandman and brock team up to kick his ass, but harry saves him, but gets killed in the process. sandman will die, but venom will live so they can make a MAXIMUM CARNAGE movie FINALLY... haha, anyone else agree that would kick ass? did you read that series? best 3 part series in spidey comic history! eric foreman is a bitch. hes funny and all, but venom is sposed to look like DANZIG with a big long tongue and razor sharp teeth, not the skinny 70's show kid. if toby wont come back, they can replace him with jake gyllenhal (spelling?), which they shoulda done to begin with, i think. donnie darko was sick! plus the romantic element of the franchise would only get better because jake and kirsten are dating or whatever, right? i herd that after spiderman 3 there going 2 come out with spidermna 4 and there going up 2 at least 6 spiderman movies. I dont think they'll go that far cause spidy might just die fighting Vemon. Just to comment on comment #85 by tspreezy, somebody really has something up their butt, anyway, when you said that "eric foreman" who was playing brock was to skinny, that is true, in the amazing spider-man, eddie brock was pretty buff, but maybe they got that from the Ultimate series, Eddie was sort of a wuss, i know that the movie is not completely based on the ultimate series, but there has been some similarities, Relations between the movie and the Ultimate series: Peter was bit by a spider on a class field trip, Peter and flash tompson got in a fight after Peter was bit, Peter only had a relationship with Mary Jane, and Eddie Brock was a weakling. I bet they got ideas from both the Ultimate and Amazing series.

so everyone thinks that sandman sucks and should be booted out of the movie. aside from the fact that the movie is coming out in 2 weeks, so it's too late for that, sandman is a good charecter for the movie. He is just a thug, and in the last two movies we've only gotten one main bad guy. In the movie peter finds out he is uncle bens real killer, so spiderman will probably be pretty pissed and completely kick his ass. Sandman is in there for a big action scene, to show spiderman beating on a thug and hopefully spitting out some classic one liners. by adding sandman in there, i think the movie will overall feel like the comics, with more action and wit from spiderman then in the previous movies

after a long accumilation of previews, i think i have a close plot theory, its long so here i go. the movie opens with spider-man bein hailed as a hero and gainin the respect he always wanted. during a rescue, he meets gwen stacey, who falls for peter later on even though she's involved with eddie brock. when peter learns uncle ben's killer is actually sandman, he becomes enraged and seeks vengence, as is harry osbourne now suped up with new goblin gear. As peter fails his attack on sandman, mj's ex boyfriend comes back from space(he's an astronaut remember) and maybe gives a frozen black space rock to her as a gift, which she leaves at peters apartment. when peter arrives exhausted from fightin sandman, the rock has melted and climbs onto peter. After test drivin it and realizing the new strength, he goes after sandman again, this time destroying him, or so he thinks. The new suite begins altering his judgement though and he becomes more aggresive, even attacking harry at his pent house when he wasn't armed. After assaulting mj, he realizes what the suite is doing so he goes to the chuch to get rid of it. who else be there but eddie brock, who was recently fired because of actions from peter and and angry for losing his girlfriend to peter. he sees peter rippin off the suite and soon the suite drops and covers him, hence venom. Venom kidnapps mj and takes her to a construction site where he confronts spider-man. After a long butt kickin, venom is about to finish spier-man, when sandman rises from the sewers morphed into a new giant sand creature. since venom was considered a lethal protector, and not a world dominating villian, he and spider-man team up to defeat sandman.

How many comments do we really need spelling out the differences between the various goblins in the Spider-man mythology?
Even if there were one single "correct" account of the story (which there isn't; it's been told and retold numerous times with slight to drastic differences), the fact is that the movie will be yet another slight variation on the story anyway. Are you going to get pissed off at the movie for not getting it "right" as well?
Also, in case anyone has forgotten, it's a freakin' super hero story with not a lot of deep meaning behind it. Just sit back, relax, enjoy it, and don't take it too seriously.

Sandman doesn't die. Venom's skinny and he kills Harry. Lizard is probably gonna be in the next movie because when symbiote spidey goes to dr. connors he sees all these lizard drawings. and the suit evaporates. it might also be in the next movie because it might come down as rain.and venom's not the best villain. fusion is the best. he's a spidey character too. he can turn into anyone and have all there powers- even venom- .unlike chameleon who doesn't get their powers and can only change appearance. black spidey acts drunk. he goes to a jazz club and whoops everyone's ass. he even throws mary jane. but he's still the best. the spiderman 3 game is gonna be the best. the bat glider sucks. harry's sky stick is better. and in the comics carnage kills his uncle . either it's different in the movie or sandman's lying.

Dude, the Spiderman mythos has more deep meaning behind it than any other comic story I can think of. At it's core, it's a story of adolecent conflict. Pete's forced to jump from teen to man very quickly - both in his family life, after the loss of his uncle, and in his private live with his new powers. It's really just a metaphor for the time our lives when we either decide or are forced to shoulder the responsibilities of real life. That's what makes this story so relatable. Solid themes of sacrifice, moral conflict & resolution, and even love are seeded deep in the Spiderman story.

More deep meaning than any other story, eh? I'm not knocking Spider-man, but I can think of several comic stories that would rate orders of magnitude ahead of it in terms of "deep meaning", assuming you can rate something like that objectively.
Most "serious" comic fans probably wouldn't rate Spider-man highly on such a list, but don't get me wrong: I don't think that's a negative thing.
I'm pretty familiar with the fact that most comics like these have a long history which occasionally delves into more serious subjects, but if anything that serves to better illustrate my point: the movie adaptations of the mainstream super hero books so far have been uniformly light-hearted.
But my main point was just venting my frustration at some of the commenters above who so "eloquently" (and repetitively) nitpicked about details of the comic stories (from the various multiple versions) which will undoubtedly be altered for the movie anyway, so why get all worked up about it?
I have no expectation that the plot details of this film will adhere to those of the stories that are stored in the long boxes out in my garage, and I have even less of an expectation that comments on a blog post about that movie will either.

spider man IS just a movie or comic, whichever u prefer, and people shouldn't get so worked up over it, but that doesn't mean people can't talk about it. and for people that nickpick at small details, just let it go, i doubt that becuz the black suit is different ur not goin to see the movie( even though i see where some people become frustrated at the fact that harry is not the hobgoblin, he's barely the green goblin, the director even said he was thinkin about namin him sumthin else, night surfer or sumthin else stupid like that, but thats beside the point.) the movie does cram alot into the movie, but it may turn out to be pretty long, but i bet it will be good anywayz. and that summary i posted earlier is probably wrong, so if anyone took offense, my bad.

it's gonna be like this. first peter rides on his motorcycle when harry attacks him, spidey of course beats him up(without the black suit)thinking he killed harry.. then in a middle of a movie sandman appears and spidey still without a symbiote get his ass kicked... then he fouds the symbiote, becomes assumed with it and throw sandman in the water where he was supposed to drown... for a while everything is ok but spidey becomes more and more aggressive... then harry appears spidey throws him one of new goblin's bombs, half of harry's face is blown away(this is gonna be really cool) and then spidey realizes what is he turning into(something ugly- when he got the suit he liked the power and everything but now..) after that ke kicks sandman's ass, then goes to the bell tower where he takes of the suit. eddie brock follows him and see who spiderman really is.. but symbiote falls on eddie brock who becomes venom(i love that part) of course because of venom chaos is in town and spidey puts on his good old suit and goes to defeat venom(even though venom is a lot stronger) the end and then we are waiting for spiderman 4

that sounds kinda like what i sed, but peter is attacking harry at his penthouse when he throws the pumpkin bomb, and harry wuzn't in costume or whatever(he doesn't die here, cuz they show him later with a huge scar on his face). i'm not sure of the ending though, but i've seen previews where they show spider-man( at the construction site where he's fighting venom) looking at a giant sand creature,and peter has his normal red and blues on, so i assume this is at the end. Also, on a preview for the game, they show venom fighting sandman, so i assume that is intertwinded with the movie as well, suggesting they team up to take sandman down. but at this point, anyonez guess is as good as any. this week is goin to go by soooo slooowwww.

I have to say the comments and plot ideas are interesting but I think it's not going to be a venom spectacular. I think it'll be Sandman and Green Goblin as villains then near the end when Peter flips out and shreds the suit, it'll join with Eddie and that'll be the final like, 20mins maybe.
Just an idea, like the "Oh the killers dead! Oh no he isn't!" thing on horro films. Either way I'm seeing that movie :P

Yeah hobgoblin isn't in the movie, maybe in the 5th though. Harry becomes greengoblin in this movie. and the lizard toys are just promotional, same way they're selling scorpion and rhino figures(also the lizard is in the game). mysterio actually makes a cameo, i think, or its quinton beck, a.k.a mysterio, in this movie who's played by Bruce Campbell who actually played the wrestling announcer in spider-man and the annoying usher in spider-man 2( he's close friends with sam raimi due to working experience on the 'Evil Dead' series). and the venom suit comes from space in a meteor, not brought back from a space mission(thats what i originally posted).

HOLY CRAP!!!! I just realized something by watching one of the teaser trailers on google for Spider-man 3. Gwen Stacy is in the movie, ring a bell to anyone. I'm sure that a lot of people don't believe me, but if you go on google on type in Spider-man 3 for videos, and watch one of the first teaser trailers, you will see Peter about to make out with a blonde haired girl. Don't critize me until you watch the trailer carefully, and if you still don't believe me, then you will change your mind once you see the movie!

cant wait to see this movie, tho i just have to say... i still think tobey maguire was mis cast.... hes ok looking and everything but hes so unlike the versions of spiderman ive seen in the past. not to mention sometimes his acting or lack thereof really does irritate me... hes playing a troubled superhero... act like it! its more dire than daniel radcliffes emotionally stunted harry potter.

neither becomes venom. peter at first wears the suit, but its not considered venom, just the black suit. once peter tears it off in the church and it climbs on eddie brock jr.( played by topher grace, who is from "that 70's show"), then it becomes venom. if there's any other questions, just post them.

I think that if venom is in the movie, it will not be until the very end. It may show him taking over Eddie Brock, and leave an opening for S.M.4. Their may be some kind of fight seen between venom and spiderman.. if we are lucky. I see venom, as being more of an internal villian for Peter in this movie. he will spend some time disputing with himself. I just wish these movies would hold up to the comics a little more though. I was pissed when they killed off a bunch of X-Men characters, and said that was the last one. They did'nt even fight the opocolypse. Damn that makes me mad.

okay, in the first spidey movie, does everybody remember Flash Thompson the school bully (who was originally dating MJ) ? well i was reading over the cast and crew of spider-man 3 and i stumbled upon his name.. so here i am wondering why Flash Thompson is in the 3rd movie when he wasnt even in the second one, and the last time we saw him was in the first film when MJ had broken up with him at graduation and he left and that was it. i dont see how their gonna put him into the story line of the 3rd one.. unless somehow he finds out that parker and MJ are together, and course he wouldnt like that idea cause he hated parker in the first one, so perhaps flash is just in the third one for a little bit of revenge. which i think would be cool cause it would also put some intense drama into peters Personal life rather than dealing with super villains in his Spidey life.
a lot of you have been saying you dont like sandman and you hope hes only in the movie for about a scene or two. well i doubt their gonna do that since hes the one who killed parkers uncle. besides even if they Dont get too much film time with the new Goblin and Venom, theres still possibilities of them doing More spidey movies and they could just as easy spread the Venom and Goblin plot line into more than just One movie right.. i cant remember where, but i heard somewhere that there was to be six spider-man movies.. im hoping thats true, although they could just very well end it after this one making it just a spider-man Trilogy. but honestly i think that they should keep it going to a 6-film series, a trilogy would be cool, but theres too much story line hooked up with spider-man to just make a small trilogy.
if my theory of a 6-film series is right, im guessing that they'll spread harry osbourne as the goblin through till the final movie and something major will happen with those two to end the series.
Overall im totally Psyched about Spidey 3! and im going to go see it time and time again, as i hope all of you will too lol.

sorry to dispappoint, but harry osbourn dies in this movie, so he and the 'new goblin' aren't coming back after this. and yes, venom is in here, due to the fact that there are numerous amounts of previews showing spider-man and venom fighting, including scenes where mj is suspended on what looks like black webbing, which is after she's kidnapped by venom. also, they show spider-man lying on his back looking up while holding sumthing around his neck, if u look closely, u see that it's venom's black webbing around his throat and spider-man is trying to keep from being strangeled.

Venom is in the movie but for about 3 minutes all in all. There's 'a bit of a scrap' & Spidey remorselessly throws a pumpkin bomb at the symbiote after separating it from Eddie Brock using the same sound abuse practiced by Bullseye in Daredevil. That was only a few Marvel films ago... Needless to say neither parts of Venom come off too well and Carnage is the only hope anyone has of seeing any symbiote action in any of the future Spider-Man films.

i jus watched the movie, so harry loses his memory temporarily and eventually forces mj to leave peter. peter den become aggressive due to the suit. Hobgoblin ( the goblin in orange ) is not in the movie, nor is other assorted villains. Its only harry ( The new goblin ) and venom and sandman. Venom and sandman teams up to whack spidey and harry blocks spidey from the finishing blow, and gets impaled by his own hoverboard. and yes, eddie brock is a goner, venom is gone but the symbiote isn. dr conners still has a small bit of it in his lab which he is researching. i heard lizard is in spidey 4 too. but not too sure abt carnage

I am a huge fan of the series... But Spiderman 3 was just garbage.
The action scenes were spectacular... Like you were looking into Stan Lee's head and seeing it as he saw it, but Toby's acting was... laughable - except for in the scene where evil spidey goes "kid gloves off" to Harrys pad and beats his ass.
This movie will most likely be a horrible agonizing death to an excellent trilogy that they could have ended better by cutting out sandman, who just wasted space on the screen. The show would have been much better if it were just spidey, the suit, harry and venom. For the first time for a spidey movie, I found myself looking at my watch.
If they had even just had sandman and 2nd gen goblin, the movie could have played on the suit and they could have marketed a spiderman 4 with just Venom which would have outsold any superhero movie in history.
Another big mistake - Venom fans... he is only in the movie for say... 30 minutes. And if there ever is a "Carnage symbiote" it isnt going to be in the movies because amazingly - one goblin bomb decimated the symbiote and eddie brock! Hooray.
If I could meet the director, I would personally bitch slam him and his writing crew for fucking up an amazing series with this overloaded garbage.
For fans expecting the perfection of Spiderman 2 from the same director and same production crew, expect a loose plot, more comedy oriented, characters acting out of the character we have come to recognize, and a climax that seemed more like a no name wrestling match.
If you want to see pretty good special effects, and see spidey and his foes do some cool things (Not enough of them) then go see this movie.
If your expecting to have a good plot to end a decent trilogy, just stick with spiderman 2 and let that be the ending to your series...
I am still in shock of what I have been made to watch.
Out of ten:
Spiderman 1: 8 Spiderman 2: 9 Spiderman 3: 7
And spiderman 3 only got the 7 because of the comedy, and the special effects.

Jason, I couldn't have said it better myself. They destroyed so many of the original sotry lines and replaced it with "70's Porno Pete and His Amazing Dance Routine".
1. What was with the comet. Didn't the suit already arrive to earth in S2 on JJ's son's shuttle? Not the Secret Wars storyline, but I thought it was great forshadowing.
2. The symbiote should have bonded with Pete, not his suit. That's waht they do, bond with other living things. The coolest part of the symbiote was that when it bonded to Pete, it responded directly to his thoughts and actually became Pete's clothes. In the movie, it was just clothes dye.
3. Venom's insane anger came from Brock's humiliation AND the symbiote's feelings of rejection. He was alway's two entities - "WE hate the Spider...". Here, it was just Brock. They never even called him (them) Venom!
4. How come the same pumpkin bomb that went off 6 inches from Harry's head was only enough to scare him, but was more than enough to entirely disitigrate both Brock and the suit?
I could go on forever, but you get the idea. They crammed 50lbs of shit in a 10lb bag, and everything suffered for it. And Venom was sorely short changed - he deserved an entire movie, and he only got about 30 mins.
SFX and fight scenes wher good, but I think 7 is a generous score.

I never thought I'd end up becoming a movie critic. From the beginning of Spider-man three, I was excited enough to feel the very blood and adrenalin pumping through my system. The first fight scene was a work of beauty (despite Osborne’s questionable fashion sense), and the twist with Harry was creatively presented. This movie went all-out, with computer graphics. It was more than eye pleasing. The introduction to the Sandman was practically drool-worthy. Generally speaking, I had a plot in my mind, as to what this movie would contain. With few alterations, the movie played along the way I had predicted. HOWEVER, despite the pretty graphics, and decent storyboarding, the movie literally began to drag. The biggest, most heated issue, which people seem to be beating around, is simple; the movie had scenes that were plain old bloody boring. The movie was about two and a half hours long… and they could have easily cut out forty-five minutes of it. The plot had very few flaws, in my eyes. People could dock it for cheesy acting but I say: If you want cheesy, watch the first Doc Oc scene of the second one, where a doctor busts out a chainsaw to try and defend himself. The truth of the matter is simple, despite the eye-pleasing material; this adrenalin rush is easily out-weighed by the attempt of blandly presenting the internal conflicts. There were, in fact, parts that I was horribly afraid that my mind wouldn’t let me watch.
Another issue I can see /other/ people having (oddly, not myself) was the very presentation of Eddie Brock. Within the comics and secondary cartoon series, Brock was literally a powerhouse. The fella was built, hot-headed, arrogant and generally stupid. I, myself, see that such a character would not have fit the plot at all. The ideal behind the new rendition is that Brock should be Parker’s nemesis, not Spider-man’s. Parker’s naturally set out to hate Brock, and what better way to do that than to have an Eddie that has communication skills. :P All honesty, I really, really enjoyed watching Topher Grace being a complete ass-monkey. =3 Plus, the Venom fight was bloody freakin’ awesome. I do think they ended the movie rather well. The climax, despite Jason’s personal wrestling issues, was well thought out. However, I was expecting the death of sandman, partway through, was to turn him to glass. I was depressed to see that never happening. Oh well. Overall, the movie’s worth watching, and I mean, I’m going to watch it all over again with my girlfriend and three of her friends, on Sunday. However, I do believe this movie is more worthwhile at home, purchasing the DVD slightly used for 8 dollars at your local video store in a month and a half (because some other twat thought that it was just as bull-shitted as half of the other critics on this board). Something about watching the movie’s dull parts in a theatre made me rather restless, especially since I needed to go to the bathroom, all the way through the film. For the horribly boring scenes… I’d rather watch them in the comfort of my own, super-comfy couch.

idiots, who the hell said harry was hobgoblin...the hobgoblin is a completely different character, just refer to harry as " the new goblin" and i believe that the plot development was very well done, and it tied everything together...venom looks pretty good too, but i wish they had edited his voice like the cartoon...if Cletus Kassidy was in it..it would have been to sick..oh and venom should have been built, it would look better :D

That movie was, by far, the best Spiderman movie made. Also, there is going to be 6 Spiderman movies, so get comfortable, people.
And if you kids weren't paying attention, when Ed Brock Hopped into the Symbiote, it snatched him up to protect him from the explosion, where it then most likely got away.
I have a REALLY good feeling Venom WILL be back for SM4. Spiderman 4 will most likely have Venom and Carnage as the villains. Because the Prof. did have Symbiote in his office, which it will probably find that crazed guy who is Carnage.
And Sandman was an original, I loved his character. It was a good thing for the REAL Spiderman fans to see.
I'm actually going to see it again next weekend, and probably again in imax after that.
This movie gets a 9/10 from me. Only part I didn't like is how Venom didn't get the huge scene he deserved, but still pretty friggin' epic if you ask me.
Spiderman still wins though, because he is godlike. :]

Ok...ok... i have read earlier about carnage showing up in the next movie.... and while it would be a great idea it wont happen... not for any of the reasons any of you said eather.... the reason is that he is to brutal... he kills people out right... i have the first comic when he showed up and it was to bloody, so unless the next spider0man movie is going to be R rated carnage cant show up with out destroying his original character, and they already did that to venom, cuz he was supposed to be a hero but he too things to far in punishment, such as if you robed a bank spider-man would turn you into the police while venom would beat the heck out of you or kill you.... just say'n

I've done see the movie and after reading these guy's suggestions. HERES WHT I THINK SHOULDA HAPPENED: I honestly think it woulda been a better movie if Carnage and Venom were both in the movie fighting to defeat spider-man. While the green goblin was plotting a way to get his revenge, an occasional appearance in the movie, sandman actually would still fit into the movie, but instead of Venom and Sandman join forces, Sandman kept to him self while Carnage and Venom fought side by side. It woulda been 4 villians then, but more of 3 villians than 4 because the green goblin wouldn't make that big of an appearance untill toward the end. This is how i think it shoulda been. BUT IT WAS A GREAT MOVIE EITHER WAY!!!!!!!!

ok, hobgoblin was not in spiderman 3, that was harry taking his fathers "toys" for revenge on peter as the green goblin but in a different uniform, sandman sucked out loud but the ONE good reason why he HAD to be in the movie was it explained uncle bens fate more in deatail and gave peter a reason to put on the symboite for revenge, plus it made an alright addition and saved some of the better villians for future spiderman movies, venom was really cool in that movie but in personal opinion the spiderman-venom battle wasnt as action packed as it should have been, there should have been a little more scrapping before peter blows up the symboite with the pumpkin bomb while it was trapped by the sound

i love the spider-man series but they did some parts of the movie wrong 1. the hob goblin is not harry its norman, his dad 2.venom was two small and he had nails 3.spidey doesent kill venom at he seperates eddie and the simbiote then launches it in two space and comes back down as two the carnage simbiote and the venom simbiote. he does not "kill" him with a bomb 4.peter and mary jane dont hook up

Can I just say that for those of you talking about a Spider-man 4, there's not going to be one! Dunst and McGuire have already said they won't make anymore, they wish to move onto other projects and not be type cast, the only way it'd happen is with replacement actors which would suck, or a considerably large amount of cash for the actors but then their hearts wouldn't be in it and it'd be all about the money!

anyone with hopes of carnage should just let those hopes go. the venom symbiote was blown up, and you could see eddie's rib cage and skeletal system when the bomb went off, so u know he's dead. and any symbiote that was left u could see be burned up. and dr. connors piece would be too small to bond with someone else, also, it would of probably died, rather from a connection between it and the whole symbiot(the suit) or because symbiotes feed off of hosts's adrenaline or some other bodily chemicals, and with that thing locked up, it would eventually starve. they should have moved venom into a 4th film, and made it a continuation, like they did with the matrix reloaded. venom has much more story then the movie showed. if they had done the movie the way i said, they could have explained more about eddie's past and see that he's actually a mirror to peter parker in the sense he had a terrible childhood with cruel parents, and venom is just a twisted version of spider-man. and they could of explained how venom had all of peter's memories, secrets,powers, and why he didn't set off his spider sense. for people that know venom, we know all those answers, but i saw the movie with someone who didn't know too much about venom, and they kept asking questions like "why didn't he know venom was coming if he has his spider sense?". Venom could beat spidey down easily, so i don't know why he would need to team up with sandman. i know the director didn't like venom, so i wonder if he put him in the movie just to humiliate him.

That piece that Doc Conners has may be small, but it is enough, the thing with the symbiote it can regenerate itself. If you know about Carnage was created then you know that his piece of symbiote was that small also to begin with.

yeah, but carnage was considered a spawn or a child of venom.the piece dr.connors has is a piece that peter cut off from his black suit. so if the piece in dr.connor's lab jumped on someone, they would have a symbiote suit similar to venom's, not like carnage's.

fazza: Historically, most people commenting on this post do not read the previous comments, so you may be out of luck there. But I'll answer you, since you asked, and I wouldn't want to leave you hanging.
After seeing this one, I would kind of hope there won't be more, because I wasn't very happy with it, as you can see in my review.
However, I say "I would ... hope" because that hope is futile. This series has been such a huge financial success (including this last one) that there is virtually no way they could NOT make at least one more sequel. Spider-man 4 is guaranteed box office gold, before it's even announced or any details are made public, so for that reason alone, you will see another sequel.
As for MJ and Peter getting back together, I think so, but I'm really trying to purge most of that movie from my memory, so I'm not 100% sure on that.

I think sm#4 should be doc connors loking for research money (the research that turns him into lizard) wich leads him to get a mafia like loan from king pin posibly, or an other crime boss. of course the deal goes rotten when conors mises the deadline so the man incharge hires kraven to go after him. after already causing trouble trying to get the money the lizard has spider-man after him wich leads to good the bad and the ugly face between the three. mean while with no real ties to peter mary-jane hooks up with a guy on the set of a small budget movie you guesed it none other than mysterio who swears revenge on peter parker for for stealing mj back and causing some kind of harm. spidey foils kraven who also swears to kill him after making him loose the lizard and 50 grand or what ever king pin was paying him to take out connors. it end with king pin putting money on spider-mans head the villians to bring in in #5 are limitles.

Kingpin doesn't exist in spider-man's universe either, so sorry. all marvel super hero movies are seperated into their own universes, so kingpin will never meet spider-man. if they were connected in some way, don't u think they would of all ran into a vampire(from Blade) or at least into each other.

FIRST OF ALL, u cannot expect anything in this movie to be like the comics here are the reasons WHY:
1. Harry and Norman Osbourne are/were the Green Goblin, not the Hobgoblin 2. spiderman's uncle Ben did not die from sandman but actually from the villian Chameleon 3. Eddie brock did not become venom the same way it did in the movie 4. Unlike in the movie, Harry Osbourne/Green Goblin does not die from gettined imapaled by spikes in the comics 5. Venom does not die from a single Green Goblin pumpkin bomb 6. PETER PARKER DID NOT DRESS LIKE A FUCKING GOTH PIECE OF SHIT ever, why the hell did they make him that in Spiderman 3?

Like we talked about this morning, I'm hoping the way this goes is as follows:
1. The opening scene is a big, action-packed fight scene - Spidey vs. Sandman. At the end of this sequence, Sandman gets captured and goes to jail, and that's it for him for the rest of the movie. I'd like to see this both because I don't want them trying to crowd in an extra villain throughout the whole movie, and because it would allow for a faster paced, action based opening scene before you get into the actual plot of the movie.
2. The rest of the movie unfolds along the general lines of the Venom story. Of course, they won't be able to tell it the original way it happened (I'll explain why they can't do this, if anyone is interested), but it will be interesting to see what they do instead. Hopefully they at least stick to the basics: Spidey gets a costume with all these strange new abilities, and then gradually learns what it really is, etc. etc. Hopefully this will be the main storyline of the movie.
3. I wouldn't mind seeing the Hobgoblin subplot continue to be just the same as it has been in the first two movies: a slowly progressing subplot that ties the movies together but does not interfere with the main story being presented in each film. Ideally, it would keep that slow, background pace, and only maybe reveal him in costume at the very end of this movie.
For the record, it's just "Lizard" not Lizardman.
I'm not sure if I really see Shocker showing up anytime soon in the Spiderman series, because as I understand it, he is hired by the Kingpin(Fisk) who acted as the Dare Devil's enemy in the movie.
Personally, I abhore Sandman and I'd rather see Aquaman if anyone, but more than those two bums I'd enjoy Mysterio.
The reason Carnage won't show up in S3 is much more simple: the movie is already pretty full, and it would be too much of a stretch to throw another villain in there.
Shocker I'd be OK with, since I think it would be great for Spider-Man movies to have some "throw away" villains in them; quick 5 minute fight scenes that up the action level without having to dedicate much story / plot time to them, and they go off to jail, explaining why they aren't in the rest of the movie.
I think this sort of thing is going to be closer to the role Sandman plays in #3, although Sandman is actually a character with a little bit of depth too him, so I wouldn't be too mad if they tried to play him a bit more. It's just that if they've already got Venom and the ongoing Harry plot, there's not a lot of room left in a single movie for a villain that would actually play a part in the plot.
Lastly, Kingpin has a long history with Spider-man as well, so no problems with him or his henchmen showing up at some point in the future. Aquaman may be difficult, since he's a DC character (like Superman and Batman). Mysterio is cool, but difficult to write a good story about, and probably even harder to transition into a live action movie. If the special effects are good enough, I could see it, but I think there are more villains with more popular appeal that will see the big screen sooner.
Even with the way movies have been twisting plots, I'm not sure they'd go so far as to make a symbiote that had been born of another(Venom) in the same movie that Venom debuts in.
I wouldn't object to Kingpin or Shocker or even both showing up, but I doubt that they'll just take Kingpin from the Dare Devil story to put him in another hero's movie.
I'm glad you cleared things up in the last comment. Since not knowing nothing must mean we know everything but nothing.

and have any of you actually SEEN ANY PHOTOS OF VENOM IN THE MOVIE ? maybe the only two villians are sandman and green goblin, and at the end venom emerges after spidey takes off the suit and perhaps beats sandman and/or harry . and then that is what happens at the end of the movie that venom Emerges. and its what keeps you on the edge of your seat for the next movie to come !

I figure this - 1.) Spidey was signed as a 3 picture deal. What better way to get the studio to sign up for more flicks than to ensure the fans leave the last one wanting more. 2.) Venom is the definitive Spidey villan. No way they cram him into a story line packed with other enemies and so many other things going on – Marvel wouldn’t let them. And 3.) if you notice, all of the Venom chatter has come from the fan community. He’s not in any of the teasers or promos for the movie. From a marketing point of view, it wouldn’t make any sense to exclude Venom from the advertising if he had any real part in the movie. He’s too big a draw.
So, everyone looking for the theatrical throw-down between Spidey and Venom, (including me!) - looks like well have to wait another two years for S4!

Harry is the green goblin not hob goblin from the comics plus in the previews he is green/purple not orange/red/brown and he seems like he is just a thorn in spidey's side not a big problem cause peter seems to just beat on him (even though Hob goblin was one of spidey's worst foes... well the hob goblin's were)
And as for venom, it looks like the battle is going to be against harry and sandman with the suit but battling his anger problems he gets from the suit and the end is going to be more about Venom and Brock.
They could maybe add some side villains for show time and more fighting but nobody really else could fit well with this group. Except Carnage but two symb.'s would be a bit much, plus they would have to go into detail on the secret wars and about carnage and Kasady and plus it takes more than spidey to take down Carnage, it takes him, venom, and several other super heroes to do the trick, plus the mass slaughter Carnage creates would be a tad high for a PG-13 movie.

How many comments do we really need spelling out the differences between the various goblins in the Spider-man mythology?
Even if there were one single "correct" account of the story (which there isn't; it's been told and retold numerous times with slight to drastic differences), the fact is that the movie will be yet another slight variation on the story anyway. Are you going to get pissed off at the movie for not getting it "right" as well?
Also, in case anyone has forgotten, it's a freakin' super hero story with not a lot of deep meaning behind it. Just sit back, relax, enjoy it, and don't take it too seriously.
Dude, the Spiderman mythos has more deep meaning behind it than any other comic story I can think of. At it's core, it's a story of adolecent conflict. Pete's forced to jump from teen to man very quickly - both in his family life, after the loss of his uncle, and in his private live with his new powers. It's really just a metaphor for the time our lives when we either decide or are forced to shoulder the responsibilities of real life. That's what makes this story so relatable. Solid themes of sacrifice, moral conflict & resolution, and even love are seeded deep in the Spiderman story.

Most "serious" comic fans probably wouldn't rate Spider-man highly on such a list, but don't get me wrong: I don't think that's a negative thing.
I'm pretty familiar with the fact that most comics like these have a long history which occasionally delves into more serious subjects, but if anything that serves to better illustrate my point: the movie adaptations of the mainstream super hero books so far have been uniformly light-hearted.
But my main point was just venting my frustration at some of the commenters above who so "eloquently" (and repetitively) nitpicked about details of the comic stories (from the various multiple versions) which will undoubtedly be altered for the movie anyway, so why get all worked up about it?
I have no expectation that the plot details of this film will adhere to those of the stories that are stored in the long boxes out in my garage, and I have even less of an expectation that comments on a blog post about that movie will either.
then in a middle of a movie sandman appears and spidey still without a symbiote get his ass kicked... then he fouds the symbiote, becomes assumed with it and throw sandman in the water where he was supposed to drown... for a while everything is ok but spidey becomes more and more aggressive... then harry appears spidey throws him one of new goblin's bombs, half of harry's face is blown away(this is gonna be really cool) and then spidey realizes what is he turning into(something ugly- when he got the suit he liked the power and everything but now..) after that ke kicks sandman's ass, then goes to the bell tower where he takes of the suit. eddie brock follows him and see who spiderman really is.. but symbiote falls on eddie brock who becomes venom(i love that part) of course because of venom chaos is in town and spidey puts on his good old suit and goes to defeat venom(even though venom is a lot stronger) the end and then we are waiting for spiderman 4

i cant remember where, but i heard somewhere that there was to be six spider-man movies.. im hoping thats true, although they could just very well end it after this one making it just a spider-man Trilogy. but honestly i think that they should keep it going to a 6-film series, a trilogy would be cool, but theres too much story line hooked up with spider-man to just make a small trilogy.
if my theory of a 6-film series is right, im guessing that they'll spread harry osbourne as the goblin through till the final movie and something major will happen with those two to end the series.

The action scenes were spectacular... Like you were looking into Stan Lee's head and seeing it as he saw it, but Toby's acting was... laughable - except for in the scene where evil spidey goes "kid gloves off" to Harrys pad and beats his ass.
This movie will most likely be a horrible agonizing death to an excellent trilogy that they could have ended better by cutting out sandman, who just wasted space on the screen. The show would have been much better if it were just spidey, the suit, harry and venom. For the first time for a spidey movie, I found myself looking at my watch.
If they had even just had sandman and 2nd gen goblin, the movie could have played on the suit and they could have marketed a spiderman 4 with just Venom which would have outsold any superhero movie in history.
Another big mistake - Venom fans... he is only in the movie for say... 30 minutes. And if there ever is a "Carnage symbiote" it isnt going to be in the movies because amazingly - one goblin bomb decimated the symbiote and eddie brock! Hooray.
If I could meet the director, I would personally bitch slam him and his writing crew for fucking up an amazing series with this overloaded garbage.
For fans expecting the perfection of Spiderman 2 from the same director and same production crew, expect a loose plot, more comedy oriented, characters acting out of the character we have come to recognize, and a climax that seemed more like a no name wrestling match.
If you want to see pretty good special effects, and see spidey and his foes do some cool things (Not enough of them) then go see this movie.
If your expecting to have a good plot to end a decent trilogy, just stick with spiderman 2 and let that be the ending to your series...

1. What was with the comet. Didn't the suit already arrive to earth in S2 on JJ's son's shuttle? Not the Secret Wars storyline, but I thought it was great forshadowing.
2. The symbiote should have bonded with Pete, not his suit. That's waht they do, bond with other living things. The coolest part of the symbiote was that when it bonded to Pete, it responded directly to his thoughts and actually became Pete's clothes. In the movie, it was just clothes dye.
3. Venom's insane anger came from Brock's humiliation AND the symbiote's feelings of rejection. He was alway's two entities - "WE hate the Spider...". Here, it was just Brock. They never even called him (them) Venom!
4. How come the same pumpkin bomb that went off 6 inches from Harry's head was only enough to scare him, but was more than enough to entirely disitigrate both Brock and the suit?
I could go on forever, but you get the idea. They crammed 50lbs of shit in a 10lb bag, and everything suffered for it. And Venom was sorely short changed - he deserved an entire movie, and he only got about 30 mins.
SFX and fight scenes wher good, but I think 7 is a generous score.

From the beginning of Spider-man three, I was excited enough to feel the very blood and adrenalin pumping through my system. The first fight scene was a work of beauty (despite Osborne’s questionable fashion sense), and the twist with Harry was creatively presented.
This movie went all-out, with computer graphics. It was more than eye pleasing. The introduction to the Sandman was practically drool-worthy.
Generally speaking, I had a plot in my mind, as to what this movie would contain. With few alterations, the movie played along the way I had predicted. HOWEVER, despite the pretty graphics, and decent storyboarding, the movie literally began to drag. The biggest, most heated issue, which people seem to be beating around, is simple; the movie had scenes that were plain old bloody boring. The movie was about two and a half hours long… and they could have easily cut out forty-five minutes of it. The plot had very few flaws, in my eyes. People could dock it for cheesy acting but I say: If you want cheesy, watch the first Doc Oc scene of the second one, where a doctor busts out a chainsaw to try and defend himself.
The truth of the matter is simple, despite the eye-pleasing material; this adrenalin rush is easily out-weighed by the attempt of blandly presenting the internal conflicts. There were, in fact, parts that I was horribly afraid that my mind wouldn’t let me watch.
Another issue I can see /other/ people having (oddly, not myself) was the very presentation of Eddie Brock. Within the comics and secondary cartoon series, Brock was literally a powerhouse. The fella was built, hot-headed, arrogant and generally stupid. I, myself, see that such a character would not have fit the plot at all. The ideal behind the new rendition is that Brock should be Parker’s nemesis, not Spider-man’s. Parker’s naturally set out to hate Brock, and what better way to do that than to have an Eddie that has communication skills. :P All honesty, I really, really enjoyed watching Topher Grace being a complete ass-monkey. =3
Plus, the Venom fight was bloody freakin’ awesome. I do think they ended the movie rather well. The climax, despite Jason’s personal wrestling issues, was well thought out. However, I was expecting the death of sandman, partway through, was to turn him to glass. I was depressed to see that never happening. Oh well.
Overall, the movie’s worth watching, and I mean, I’m going to watch it all over again with my girlfriend and three of her friends, on Sunday. However, I do believe this movie is more worthwhile at home, purchasing the DVD slightly used for 8 dollars at your local video store in a month and a half (because some other twat thought that it was just as bull-shitted as half of the other critics on this board). Something about watching the movie’s dull parts in a theatre made me rather restless, especially since I needed to go to the bathroom, all the way through the film. For the horribly boring scenes… I’d rather watch them in the comfort of my own, super-comfy couch.
and i believe that the plot development was very well done, and it tied everything together...venom looks pretty good too, but i wish they had edited his voice like the cartoon...if Cletus Kassidy was in it..it would have been to sick..oh and venom should have been built, it would look better :D

Only part I didn't like is how Venom didn't get the huge scene

Dunst and McGuire have already said they won't make anymore, they wish to move onto other projects and not be type cast, the only way it'd happen is with replacement actors which would suck, or a considerably large amount of cash for the actors but then their hearts wouldn't be in it and it'd be all about the money!

After seeing this one, I would kind of hope there won't be more, because I wasn't very happy with it, as you can see in my review.
However, I say "I would ... hope" because that hope is futile. This series has been such a huge financial success (including this last one) that there is virtually no way they could NOT make at least one more sequel. Spider-man 4 is guaranteed box office gold, before it's even announced or any details are made public, so for that reason alone, you will see another sequel.
As for MJ and Peter getting back together, I think so, but I'm really trying to purge most of that movie from my memory, so I'm not 100% sure on that.
of course the deal goes rotten when conors mises the deadline so the man incharge hires kraven to go after him.
after already causing trouble trying to get the money the lizard has spider-man after him wich leads to good the bad and the ugly face between the three.
mean while with no real ties to peter mary-jane hooks up with a guy on the set of a small budget movie you guesed it none other than mysterio who swears revenge on peter parker for for stealing mj back and causing some kind of harm.
spidey foils kraven who also swears to kill him after making him loose the lizard and 50 grand or what ever king pin was paying him to take out connors.
it end with king pin putting money on spider-mans head the villians to bring in in #5 are limitles.

the real reason carnage wont apear in any of the films is because his story line is too close to venoms to put spiderman 4 would be a repeat of s3.

1. Harry and Norman Osbourne are/were the Green Goblin, not the Hobgoblin
2. spiderman's uncle Ben did not die from sandman but actually from the villian Chameleon
3. Eddie brock did not become venom the same way it did in the movie
4. Unlike in the movie, Harry Osbourne/Green Goblin does not die from gettined imapaled by spikes in the comics
5. Venom does not die from a single Green Goblin pumpkin bomb
6. PETER PARKER DID NOT DRESS LIKE A FUCKING GOTH PIECE OF SHIT ever, why the hell did they make him that in Spiderman 3?
SECONDLY, the writers obviously didnt know how to put together this shit and fucked it up real bad in the end.
1. Cool Sandman intro is cool but Seriously, Sandman shouldn't have more screen time than venom
2. Gwen Stacy took way too much fucking time out of the movie, and she wasn't even captured by venom/eddie brock even though spiderman supposely stole her
3.Venom is not seen until the end of the movie, they couldve really lefted him out for another movie or let brock become Venom sooner so he doesnt fucking die in 5min by a pumpkin bomb.
4. So why the fuck did Sandman and Venom want to team up??? in the comics it was because venom kidnapped the daughter of sandman and forced him to team up against spiderman.
5. AND WHY THE FUCK IS THE FUCKING BUTLER TELLING THE AUDIENCE HOW NORMAN DIED?? THATS FUCKING REDICULUS AND THE LAZIEST PIECE OF SHIT WRTING I"VE EVER SEEN.
6. I SINCERELY HOPE SPIDERMAN 4 WONT BE AS MUCH BULLSHIT AS THIS ONE, OR HOLLYWOOD SHOULD JUST FUCKING GIVE UP ON IT.

The storyline for spiderman 3 is pretty crappy they should only have 2 villans max.
And Venom himself would qualify for a full movie.
Overall Spiderman 1 and 2 would probably have a better storyline than 3 i hope number 4 is better.
