They weren't willing to try it, I was going to force it on them. I'm actually glad that the installer didn't work because I just wiped it anyways (from a previous post).

I actually wish I had time to diagnose the problem in the installer because I could imagine a lot of people running into the same issue and eventually being dismayed by Linux entirely because of it.

Yeah, that is pretty odd. I suspect it's a rare case though, because I've never seen the installer be slow like that or not be able to recognize the partitions.
