I do have a question that I hoped you wouldn't mind answering. I have look through the style sheet several times and even compared it to yours on your site, but I can not find where to set the color of the background behind the text that pops up under a link in the supernav that tells what the link is. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The supernav in the header is using images for it's background, here is the code:
#supernav a { color: #000000; background-image: url(images/ulbg.jpg);
Now if you were talking about the nicetitle javascript that creates a translucent grey background behind link titles, that too is an image found in the image folder.

Thanks! It was the nicetitle javascript bkgd box. The problem was the css file pointed to the /Scattered/ dir instead of /scattered/. Corrected this.

Now forgive me, I'm a dumb newbie, here are my questions:
With regard to the instructions in the gallery readme files, where in wrapper header am i to "update with my url"? And, once i do this, where am I to put these files? you say to "drop the wrapper files and the gallerystyle.css in the galleryhtml_rap directory".....what is this?
my intention is to have different photo galleries of all the national parks i'm going to....maybe 10 of them....will i be able to do this?

Hi Dan!
Back again. I'm having trouble with pages. I can write one...and I can edit the page (I can even see the complete page in the edit mode). But for some reason the link is always broken when I try to go the page.
as you can see it doesnt work and I cant find an actual url to point to for that page.
also, when this was setup initially, i added a site under the partners tab but now i cant find my way back to wherever it is i added that to add some more..which file is that in?

The url problem is most likely because it is too long. Change the title of the page, maybe that will work. That really is a wordpress issue. If that doesn't work disable permalinks.
You add links thorough the admin of wordpress.

Hi Dan, Love your theme. I'm trying it on a prototype webiste, www.hang-out.co.uk/weblog, and the only big problem I have is that I get loads of bad image placeholder icons in the sidebar (Pages/Archives/Categories/Meta sections) - but only in Safari. In Firefox it all looks fine. Any idea how to correct it?
I notice that your site also reports "invalid XHTML and CSS" at the bottom of the page...

Hey Dan, Great theme. I'm using it on my site and I have a few questions... 1- How do I get a "black" transparent background behind the "scattered" links like your site. Perhaps I messed something up. I don't want it on the tops, but on the sides. As far as link descriptions, I would like them to pop up with the transparent box, but not be visible on the sidebar until the mouse is hovering the link.
2- Do you have some additional scripts like what you use on your site (weather, Netflix) that I can impliment on mine. I'd like to have the weather script for sure. I was just wondering what else you had.

If it says your style sheet is missing it is because it is. Reupload the theme.

I fixed it, it was becuase the zip that I downloaded created a shell folder.

I registered for your blog. can you promote me to an 9 or 10 so I can look and edit the theme files?
Cats aren't working because you don't have any posts. Links are added after you add links through the admin panel. Then categorized after you create 4 link categories.
What did you change in the theme? I would suggest you reinstall the theme again. Then change the header image. If you want to change anything make sure you create a backup so you can back track I think you changed so much, not knowing, and it messed everything up.

The links and other items are commented out in your sidebar file.
If you want to use some of the features delete the 1-- and --1> (replace the 1 with a !) from the sidebar file. This comments out pieces of php so when the browser sees it it wont be shown.
You will also need to make your files writable by the server to edit them through the dashboard.

You will need to read the directions. You must install Gallery 1 or 2 first. If you have gallery 2 you will need to wait until i realease an update since the Gallery team has changed thier scheme.

Thanks Dan ... I have Gallery two installed ... I read the instructions I think it is all to do with Gallery having changed it up as there is no folder named /template in the gallery install. I did find after a little looking around on your site instructions on how to make the wp theme into the gallery theme but if your theme is integrated even better as that means as i evolve your wonderfully theme and make it more my own the gallery one will update also right !! which is awesome ... I have a WP2GALLERY plugin that doesn't seem to work that well and doesn't make putting images from gallery in WordPress any easier .. but i am guessing neither does yours? as that is admin changes to the 'write' area of the dashboard.
anyway .. i like your theme regardless and with gallery integration and WordPress doing pages .. what else do you need !
I really hope as well i haven't been dumb here and your theme is already up to date.

for an amazon plugin i am trying to install when you create a page .. you need to be able to select a template from a drop down menu .. when running this theme i don't get that option ... can this be fixed .. how owuld i or how is it done ?

Hi Dan, first off thanks for the great theme. I am using it for our family site (I will send the link if you like, just don't want the world stopping by). I also just noticed you released Slate, very nice also. I am trying to adapt Scattered 2a into a 3 column extravaganza. Any thoughts how this can be accomplished? I always end up with the left and right column on the correct sides... below the main body. Please help!

Yeah I really don't like 3-columns at all. But if you want to make the theme 3-columns, all the power to you. I would check out the theme codex and look at the code they are using; look specifically at the Kubrick 3-column versions.

Over at http://beta-lab.thusgaard.com I'm trying to make the SCATTERED theme that you entered into Alex King's competition work with IE. I know you hate IE, and I can't blame you. I'm currently viewing your site in one of the (great) tabs of the (fantastic) new Firefox 1.5.
However, Thusgaard.com happens to be a family site and I just don't want to cut off my entire family over a browser.
These two sites seem to work in IE. Do you have any idea what's different in those two sites that make them work when the one I currently have on my domain doesn't work at all (with IE)??
I very much appreciate any time you throw into sending me a solution (or pointing me towards one).

Awesome theme! I would like to implement it, but need a way to display a java script photo gallery that takes up all of the width of the theme (do not have room for the sidebar). What code needs to be changed to have a blank page (keeping the 'header' 'footer' sections) but eliminating the side bar? Thank in advance!

Just wanted to say thanks for this nice theme. I had some minor problems displaying it within firefox, because the design seemed to bounce when I moved with my mouse over the links. But this is ok now - and anyway, your design is terrific.

I was very excited to have found scattered. It was exactly the type of template i had envisioned for my new blog. Unfortunately it does not display images in the sidebar or footer in any browser other than Firefox. The theme has no problems displaying the header or images in posts so I cannot accept that this is a problem with Internet explorer rather than the template's coding.
I hope This issue is resolved someday because this would be a great template if it ws fully functional.

hello dan. i recent became an converted wordpress user and have really like the themes you created. they are clean cut and the layout is intuitive. i am having trouble uploading some to the files to my isp. it seems that i cannot upload files that are named ".ds_store" [slate and scattered 2 theme], "wrapper.footer.default", and "wrapper.header.default" [scattered 1 theme] is there away around this? thanks for the help and keep up with the good work.

I believe those wrapper files are for the gallery integration of old. Don't worry about the ds store file that's just a remnant of the zip. Otherwise I would recommend a new host.

Knut: I don't really know what to your are referring to but the bodyid tells the css what page it is.

These two sites seem to work in IE. Do you have any idea what's different in those two sites that make them work when the one I currently have on my domain doesn't work at all (with IE)??
