  • ejon · 3 years ago
wow.. i like it, but how to show up the sidebar like before
  • Pierre Gazzola · 3 years ago
Great Job again Dan 1 question on main page to add side bar a bit confuse to be displayed. Also which file to edit to ad google Adsense ?
    Pierre
  • Dan · 3 years ago
You can add whatever you want to the sidebar.php file.

Google AdSense? Anywhere, you probably want to put it in the loop.php file
  • Pierre Gazzola · 3 years ago
Just another quick question while viewing tail -f error_log notice that the page call for iespecific.css Was the file omitted ? Or am I doing something wrong?

Will send you donation soon for this new theme after I pay servers cost gee never seem to amaze me 329 Us a month
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Thanks for pointing that out. I intended to do another css for IE but never followed through. I will change that ASAP.

    Thanks.
  • Pierre Gazzola · 3 years ago
    Thank you Dan !

BTW is rolling archive made only for IE 7.0 as firefox wont lod it ? or flocks nor opera or is it sonething missing in css ?
  • Dan · 3 years ago
You've modified the theme so it shows up in two places.
  • Anshul · 3 years ago
Hi. I downloaded the latest version and installed as is. When I first tried use the moo.fx panel, nothing happened. Nothing opened up. Do I need some special plugins to make it work in firefox. Nothing happened. Also, I had 2 posts and only 1 showed up. The other 1 was buried in the archives. Are there any special reqs for installing this theme.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
In order for the panel to work you need stuff in it. Use some of the K2 supported plugins. Your posts were probably separated through asides. Check out the K2 options page.
  • Anshul · 3 years ago
Hi Dan. I tried putting inside content but the panel still doesnt work. I labled a post as aside but the asides dont show. Infact the panel has links in blogroll but the panel refuses to comeup. Please help me. You can take a look at it.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
I don't see anything on your site except the old k2. But you might want to create some posts and then start using asides. In fact asides are not meant to be used in the sidebar on this theme since the rolling archives are in the sidebar instead. I would suggested Sca4ered for something like that.
  • Anshul · 3 years ago
Yea, I dont seem to understand why that happens. The homepage appears in old k2 style, the archives and about pages appear in your style. So, I just decided to shift to the original wp style by kubrick. Let me try installing your theme again with all the plugins and lets see how it goes. Thanks again. I had also posted a question on the forum coz I was really eager to see the footer.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Sounds like you have some cache issues in your browser or you installed it wrong.
  • Anshul · 3 years ago
Hi Dan. I re-installed the theme and as of now the footer still doesnt comeup. I am using the del.icio.us cached plugin but the footer just doesnt move only. I am using flock browser. Please help me.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Seems to be working for me. Firefox 1.5 on Linux.

You should just start using wordpress, create some posts, and use Ultimate Tag Warrior. The parts of the theme will populate after.
  • Anshul · 3 years ago
Hi Dan. Yes, its working now. Thanks for your help. Just need to figure out how to change the colour of the tags. All of them are black and so is the background.
  • ]V[orlock Zernebock · 3 years ago
Thanks for the theme Dan. I have a lot of pages and subpages in my blog so I cannot display them on header. I had to disable list pages code on header. I would want to ask you if you know a way to display pages in a submenu without hardcore implementing them into a .js file or something. Just a link with a specified class that on_hover will show pages [with wp_listpages, not specified one by one on code].

I know it isn't your work, but if you know something please tell me. Sorry about my bad English. Thanks in advance.
  • luxferi · 3 years ago
Hi Dan. I'd tried to do this many ways to solve it myself but I can't so I need your help. My rolling archives doesn't show, it just displays that rotating wait icon for ages. But when I log in as admin, it displays. Also, I noticed that even though I set the no. of Asides to 3 and the category "General", it displays 5 posts and the posts weren't under "General". What should I do? I'd tried re-installing it, doesn't help.

Thanks in advance, Dan. I really appreciate it.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Rolling archives works for me (firefox Linux).

I'm not sure what you mean about the General and asides but if you don't have any posts under your asides category that might be causing the issue. You can also tinker with how many posts are displayed on the options>reading within wp-admin.
  • luxferi · 3 years ago
    Hi Dan,

Under K2X options, I placed the "General" category as Asides Category, and the Asides Number to 3. There are plenty of posts under there... just... nothing shows. I asked my readers if they could see it as well, and they all said they couldn't, the rotating icon would rotate for ages as well.

But when I logged in as admin (with Site Admin link on top), the Rolling Archives worked, it shows, but the posts displayed weren't from "General" category in particular and it displayed 5 posts. Am I making sense?

You can try it out here: www.translucent.ws

    Thanks again.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
That's strange because both work for me. I can't do a screen shot right now but the rolling archives work for me. The asides work as well. "Sca4ered.2 theme" is an aside and it shows and "wordyword meme" is a general post and it's right below it. If you are talking about sidebar asides: that doesn't work.
  • luxferi · 3 years ago
Yes! Somehow your words gave me an epiphany. *LOL* It now works! God... and I almost wanted to throw in the towel.

    Thank you Dan!
  • Lane · 3 years ago
I'm trying to figure out how to have the theme publish all articles to the "front page." Write now, only those articles that I label "journal" show up on the main page. I'm sure this is a basic issue that I am overlooking, but figured I'd ask. I love the theme, btw ... keep working at these things!
  • Dan · 3 years ago
On the K2 options page you should turn off asides.
  • Lane · 3 years ago
Aahhh... like I said, I knew it was basic. Thanks much.
  • marlenerockt · 3 years ago
i have some probs, with the pages? in the header...there are some columnes, but not the right pages, like e.g. contact.

can someone help me pls ?

btw. i would like to remove the green tags bar, at the bottom, is there a way to disable it ?

    greets,
  • Christopher Lee · 3 years ago
Dan, how do I fix this problem?
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: utw_showweightedtagset() in /home/geny/public_html/ipstudios/wp-content/themes/Sca4ered.2/footerpanel.php on line 7
  • Dan · 3 years ago
I emailed you back. You need to install ultimate tag warrior.
  • marlenerockt · 3 years ago
yeah i love it, but i hate that the site looks totally buggen in the ie :( that sux..cause most of my users surfs with the ie / ie 7b :( im a firefox user....dont know how to fix that probs :( im not that html / css god :(

    love that theme!!!!
  • bunorte · 3 years ago
I like this theme!Thx for your work!
  • mixtape show · 3 years ago
like errone else, I wish the thing worked in IE. I hacked the original up pretty badly, but thanks for a great platform.
  • Paul Stamatiou · 3 years ago
Wow this thing is huge. With all the scripts a typical scattered2 is over 300kB and with even the homepage pulling in 60 sql queries this will kill all less than decent servers when introduced to even the slightest spike in traffic. =/ However, it should do just fine on decent servers with wordpress' caching, granted people can wait for the longer load times.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Paul: What? Are you bringing this up because I've made it known I hate your blogging practices or are you just being a dick. Maybe both.

I'm probably wrong, since it's most likely you commented to just pull more traffic to that horrible piece of sh*t that you call your blog.
  • Andrea · 3 years ago
Hi Dan, first of All! TnX for this Theme!
As a second step sorry to use your blog as an "help desk" but I ask elsewhere without any kind of answer.

I'm just using your theme in my blog, with some little (probably well know) problems.
    first, the pop-up bar ... well ... it don't pop-up! :)
second, the "Early Entry" section insn't populated! May you help me? TnX!
  • Dan · 3 years ago
hmmm...try to re-install it again. The pop-up should work maybe you have a missing js or php file.
  • Andrea · 3 years ago
Problem solved! Not your (obiusly) or my fault! Just the hosting service ... they are playing with umask! :)

    TnX 4 Help! :)
  • ophidite · 3 years ago
    Hello

I try to put the Rolling archive in the bottom of the page like your blog or binarybonsai but with no succes .

    Any Clue ?

  • Ryan · 3 years ago
Dan, I'm lame....I cant figure out how to install the theme. I try puting it in my styles folder, but when I go to the admin page I can't select the theme. I tried puting all of the files directly into the K2 folder, replacing all of the files, but that doesnt give me the scattered theme. Can you help a lam-o out?
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Ryan: It is an entire theme so put it in your theme directory.

oph: go to the K2 forums, I can't support that plugin.
  • Ryan · 3 years ago
Dan, Thanks! I am not installing the rolling archives plugin correctly. Where to I put the "rolingarchives" folder with the css file? I put the actual plugin in the plugins folder. Thanks
  • Ryan · 3 years ago
Another probably lame question. When I installed the theme, the popup footer panel uses the color coding from black to white rather than the green. How do I change the colors?
  • Dan · 3 years ago
The RA plugin should just be unzipped and then the entire folder should be put into the plugins directory, activate it and it works.

The color bar is configured through UTW in the admin panel. Go to your admin page > manage > tags > configure.
  • Ryan · 3 years ago
Thanks Dan! When I extract the RA plugin, it spits out a folder and a .php file. I tried puting them in my plugins folder, but it only recognizes the .php file and not the folder. This gives me an error message. Anyways, I'll try and figure it out. My hopefully last question for you is regarding the colors you are using. If you can let me know the hexcodes for the (1) pinkish color (2) green color and (3) blue color, that would be great. Where do you define these colors? Mostly in the sca4ered.css file or in the main stylesheet? I would like to know so that I can change some of the colors. Thanks Dan. I really love the theme, and cant wait to use it for my site.
  • marlenerockt · 3 years ago
is there a way to fix the ie view bug....i hate it totally :( most of my users surf my site with the ie, and it looks crap :( the sidebar is below the content, and the rollingbar is in the middle :( with the firefox it looks perfect....i hope cameron, you can fix this instance in a nice way. write me back pls, if there is a solution for this problem

IE6 doesn't support fixed positioning so the footer will always be on the bottom on that browser, there is no way around it (without doing something I rather not with JS) and the same goes for the comment form.
The other style issues are caused mainly with Rolling Archives and if I ever have time to figure them out I'll fix them right away.

The good news is the theme looks decent in IE7 which should be released soon (6 months) or you can download the beta now.

I feel your pain too, my site doesn't look good in IE6 either.
  • JaredB · 3 years ago
There are some CSS hacks you can use to get IE to ignore things that you know it isn't going to understand, which could help some, but would probably still require a bit of tweaking so that the end result looks decent in IE.

Generally the best practice if you want a site that looks good in all browsers but better in better browsers (Firefox, etc.) is to design it so that it looks good using CSS that all the browsers will understand, and then add enhancements that the better browsers will recognize and use "hacks" to hide those CSS rules from IE. Personally, I don't like this approach much either, but it's pretty much the only option if you want the best of both worlds.

I think the best bet here is to not use any CSS attributes you know aren't going to be supported by popular browsers, unless you don't mind IE6 users having problems. For blogs (especially Dan's), this is probably fine, but if you (the commenter) do want your site to look good for your IE users, you are pretty much stuck at their lower level of standards implementation.

Also, don't make the ultimate mistake and use the many IE-only CSS rules out there which could probably accomplish the desired results; if there's anything worse than CSS hacks, it's proprietary extensions to the CSS standard. (Just a pet peeve of mine... sorry)
  • Keren · 3 years ago
    The theme is beautiful! :)

My only problem is, I can't seem to add any comments. It only shows "Leave a Reply" and the comment form is nowhere to be found.
  • Eko · 3 years ago
CAN U Create blog such as INSTABLOG.ORG ?
that's very coolest blog themes i think

    regards
  • Devynci · 3 years ago
Hi, I'm having some trouble as well. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, since all my other themes installed fine. I keep getting this error after I try to activate it.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function UTW_ShowWeightedTagSet() in /home2/azpnet/public_html/artblog/wp-content/themes/Sca4ered.2/footerpanel.php on line 7

That shows up on the right hand side of my blog.
  • Phoenix · 3 years ago
I have the same problem that Devynci !!
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: utw_showweightedtagset() in /home/wp-content/themes/Sca4ered.2/footerpanel.php on line 7
How I can fix it ?
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Sorry guys, you both need to install Ultimate Tag Warrior.
  • Ben Boles · 3 years ago
    Dan,

Thanks for the theme its awesome. I'm having a little trouble with the Rolling Archive all it loads is the Tags and it leaves the Latest Activity in the side bar. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
  • Dan · 3 years ago
Somehow putting all that stuff in the sidebar screwed it up. I'd start over and as you put that stuff in check to make sure you're not breaking anything.
  • Ben Boles · 3 years ago
    Dan,

You were right about the side bar, but how do I get that Earlier Entires that are in the side bar to come up in the Activity, Tage and Elsewhere at the bottom of the page? Thanks for the help.
  • Allison · 3 years ago
Well, I might have forgotten something important or might be doing something quite dumb, but the only things that show up in the footer for me are the tags. I'm assuming there should be more there? Also, the archives page that I've set to show up in the K2 panel is showing up, but just giving me a 404 when you click it.

Otherwise, this is my favorite theme I've seen for a long time! great work!
  • Allison · 3 years ago
Well, all of a sudden, half of that seems to be working. o_O Now I just need to figure out . . . how do I fill up the right half of the footer? does it require the del.icio.us plugin? I hope not - I'm a ma.gnolia fan. ;) If not, how do I get something there.

I'm sorry if I'm a trouble! But I do love this theme. :)
  • Dan · 3 years ago
It does require delicious but you can just edit the footer file and call another plugin if you'd like.
  • Hakan Aydin · 3 years ago
    Hello,

I thought I'd give this theme a try on my personal blog. I managed to get it working very well both under firefox and IE with a few modifications. Check it out if you're interested: http://aydin.net/blog
  • Hakan Aydin · 3 years ago
By the way, my only gripe with the theme is the dynamically moing comment form. As you can see by going to http://aydin.net/blog/2006/06/13/international-... , it doesn't look very nice if you have a 'short' page. Also, if your sidebar has a lot of items, the comment form will roll on top of the sidebar items, looking very ugly.

    Any ideas on possible workarounds?
  • OSKAr · 3 years ago
At 20-30 comments, comments do not act ajax correctly. Is there any idea ?

    Dan, amazing work.
  • Gordon · 3 years ago
Very nice, but can't download the original header. Get a 404?
  • Dan · 3 years ago
    Fixed, thanks.
  • Alan H. · 3 years ago
    Awesome theme!!!
Question: Is it a WP 'feature' that the search only searches posts? I want to search pages too.
    Thanks
  • Dan · 3 years ago
    Try my searcheverything plugin.
  • Alex Leung · 3 years ago
Hi, I love your theme, but the Sidebar Widgets plugin doesn't seem to be working with it. No "Sidebar Widgets" submenu shows under the Presentation menu... is there a way to get it to work?

I'm hoping you are working on an update to this great K2 mod ;-)
  • tom · 2 years ago
i got some of the problems others had. and with your answers to them i could fix them. but this footer thingy is a bit weird. i have content in my footer, i have the utw configuerd, i have brians latest comments....but the footer doesnt show up at all.

i deactivated all uneccesary plugins and deleted cache and cookies, uploaded your theme again, but this rockin´footer doesnt show up. what else is needed to change or configure new to make this footer work?

would be nice if your time allows you to anser me, have a nice day and thx for this theme. thats what i want :)!!!!
  • Luca · 2 years ago
Hi Dan, I just discovered your theme and I found it great for my new blog. Actually I'm testing it but I have some problems with the pop-up footer panel. I see content in central column but anything in the left and right column. Any suggestion? Thanks again
  • Dan · 2 years ago
If you are having problems with the footer make sure you have the entire theme installed and you test by turning off all of you plugins. I've tested it and it works fine under my conditions of a fresh install and activating it on this blog with all the plugins activated.

If you content within the footer isn't showing make sur eyou have the appropriate plugins to feed that information.
  • Dan · 2 years ago
    From someone I helped.

neither if this might cause the problem why my footerpanel doesn´t show up at all. so i decided to delete all uneeded plugins, it took the whole afternoon, but i found out something weird!!
i installed month ago a paginate plugin from Jennifer - Scriptygoddess(WP-Paginate). only until i deleted this from my plugin folder - only deactivating was not succesful at all, it worked like it should.
rolling archives is installed and activated, i took this version u linked in your themes page.
im not sure why this all happened to me, but im happy to found it out - perhaps this information is helpful for you for others people problems with the footer. im very late, but i wanna wish you a very nice new year, lots of succes and lucky moments with your friends and family
a really happy austrian dude! :)
  • Luca · 2 years ago
Thanks Dan. I'm afraid I have some problems with the plug-ins. Which one should be installed?
  • Dan · 2 years ago
The easiest way is to deactivate all of them make sure the theme works and just start activating them one at a time.
  • Luca · 2 years ago
Dan, thanks. Now everythings work well. :-)
  • Elessar · 2 years ago
Great theme, but i was wondering how i would go about taking out the UTW (i don't use it) and instead adding my blogroll, calendar, etc. (other items) to the footerpanel?
  • Dan · 2 years ago
Just go ahead and modify the footerpanel.php file.
  • Elessar · 2 years ago
See the thing is, i am not good with code at all. What do i take out (for the UTW) without disabling the moo.fx effect?
  • Dan · 2 years ago
    Just take out this first:
    < ?php UTW_ShowWeightedTagSet("weightedlinearbar") ?>

    Then take out lines 61 - 74,
    < ?php if (function_exists('UTW_ShowWeightedTagSetAlphabetical')) { ?>

    <div class="sb-latest">< ?php _e('Tags'); ?></div>

    ...
    < ?php } ?>

Replace the last part with whatever plugin you want to use. Ask the plugin author if you need some help.
