Perhaps if the theme would run without modification you could get around that part of it, but you would still be redistributing their plugin, which would fall under the terms of the license.

Re: Rolling Archives

No I haven't bundled an plugins in this theme, only a really old one that I used one of your plugins.

I don't think that licences transcend to other plugins or themes just because they are distributed together if each one specifies a separate licence in the code itself.

Re: Rolling Archives

I know it's probably no big deal, but it's kind of a pet peeve of mine: it seems like a lot of people are using various licenses for their products without really knowing or caring what they mean, in which case I don't get the point of specifying a license, other than they saw other people do it and felt like they should.

For some reason I thought that you had other plugins bundled besides this one, but I never really looked at it so I should probably just shut up.

Technically if you are including them in your download (either pre-installed or in separately zipped files) you are redistributing them and the licenses apply. No one will ever say anything about it, probably, but I just like pointing out stuff like that every now and then.

Re: Rolling Archives

Wait, I don't get your point the plugin is separate right now. If I do bundle it, it would be a separate plugin with it's own licence. Even if I plan to zip them together, which most likely won't be the case, that still does not mean they fall under the same L.A..

I see your point though and the main reason I'm not concerned right now is because I've been following the plugin and K2 from the beginning and I know they both don't mind, and it's most likely a case of putting the wrong licence in the plugin since the code was made by Michael and then release in the forums where Zeo made the plugin. It's a soap opera, I know but I not worried about the terms of distribution for these plugins and K2 but I will worry about any others that I don't follow so closely.

Re: Rolling Archives

<strike>Interesting. Assuming that you're referring to Creative Commons' "Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike" license, that license requires you to distribute any work based on it under the same license. Your theme (in the stylesheet) currently specifies the GPL, which does have some differences from the share-alike license.

Re: Rolling Archives

We are all good, it's share-alike.

Re: Rolling Archives

Yeah, and I said I'll look into it.

Thanks.

Re: Rolling Archives

I'm sure it's probably fine (in terms of bundling them), but there may be specific license terms that you have to abide by, in terms of making it clear where you got the components from, crediting the original authors, etc. This is especially true if any of the plugin authors are using licenses like Creative Commons.

Also, in most cases, there are conditions regarding how you can redistribute it that you not only have to abide by yourself, but also have to make clear to anyone who may use your derivative's works, because those terms can carry through as part of the license agreement and apply to your end users as well.

Re: Rolling Archives

I made a custom plugin, I'll wait a little until the plugin develops a little before I release my version.

JAred: I'll look into it but it shouldn't be a problem since it's for the K2 community and that whom it was released for.

Re: Rolling Archives

Looks like you modified the gravatar function, I didn't.

Might want to go here:
http://www.gravatar.com/imp...

Re: Rolling Archives

Just a bit more info - please feel free to delete these comments if I am abusing it.

Under the gravatars options I have set the 'Default' to my one : http://gravatar.com/avatar....

but if i remove this URL then i cant have ANY gravatar showing up at all.
