Dan Cameron: Even though today was a half day, a Friday and…

That sucks so bad Dan. I constantly dealt with stuff like this when I was admin of the xserve at my job. Should you be blogging about this? You work must know about your blog. We should talk more about it. I'm in LA but I'll give you a call. Hang in there.

Bummer. Do you have a non-public facing system that you can let them make changes on and then migrate stuff to the real server?

Even as a developer, I'd say best practices dictate that the sysadmins should be the only ones with that kind of access to the servers. Devs (and especially users) should only have a process through which they can *submit* changes, not make them directly.

Jason has a good point there, especially with some of the history we're familiar with here in particular....

We don't use SVN for our webservers, for websphere we have CVS and 4 different environments.

Yeah, maybe I should be blogging this but right now I don't think there's anything bad. I didn't name names nor do I say where I work so it can't be slanderous in any way. My viewpoint has already been heard as well so it's nothing I haven't already said.

It's too late to hide the post anyways.

But if you guys would just use pownce I would probably post more juicy stuff. But since it's so inconvenient for you guys...:)
